The main components of S355J0W weather-resistant steel plate include carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and other elements. In addition, alloying elements such as chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) are also added , copper (Cu) and molybdenum (Mo), etc., to improve its corrosion resistance. Specific ingredient content standards are as follows:
The carbon content should be less than or equal to 0.16%.
Silicon content should be less than or equal to 0.5%.
Manganese content should be 0.5~1.5%.
Phosphorus content should be less than or equal to 0.03% (some standards may be more stringent and require less than or equal to 0.010%).
The sulfur content should be less than or equal to 0.025% (some standards may be more stringent and require less than or equal to 0.010%).
Nickel content should be less than or equal to 0.65%.
The chromium content should be 0.4~0.8%.
The copper content should be less than or equal to 0.3%.
The molybdenum content should be 0.25~0.55%.
In addition, the composition notes of the S355J0W steel plate also mention that for every 0.005% reduction in the maximum phosphorus content, the maximum nitrogen content is allowed to increase by 0.001%, up to a maximum of 0.012%.
S355J0W steel plate is a kind of low alloy steel, also known as weather-resistant steel plate. Its atmospheric corrosion resistance is 2 to 8 times stronger than ordinary carbon steel.
