What is Q345E

Q345E is an ordinary low alloy steel with an alloying element content of no more than 5%, so the iron content should be above 95%. Its specific chemical composition mainly includes carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), vanadium (V ), niobium (Nb) and titanium (Ti). The following is specific information about the content of these elements:

Carbon (C): Maximum content is 0.18%. Carbon is the main element affecting the strength and hardness of Q345E.

Silicon (Si): The maximum content is 0.55% (another way of saying it is the maximum content is 0.50%). Silicon increases the strength and hardness of steel while increasing its toughness.

Manganese (Mn): The content range is 1.00~1.60% (another way of saying it is that the maximum content is 1.70%). Manganese also increases the strength and hardness of steel.

Sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P): the maximum content is 0.025% and 0.025% respectively (another way of saying this is that the maximum content of sulfur is 0.020% and the maximum content of phosphorus is 0.030%). Sulfur and phosphorus are harmful elements in steel that reduce the toughness and corrosion resistance of steel.

Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni) and Copper (Cu): The allowable residual content of these elements does not exceed 0.30%, 0.030% and 0.30% respectively. Chromium and nickel improve steel's corrosion resistance.

Vanadium (V), niobium (Nb) and titanium (Ti): content ranges are 0.02~0.15%, 0.015~0.060% and 0.02~0.20% respectively. These elements play an important role in the alloying process of steel and can further enhance the properties of the steel.
