Q235B is a widely used carbon structural steel grade in China, specified in the national standard GB/T 700. The "Q" represents "yield strength" in Chinese pinyin, "235" indicates that the yield strength of this steel is 235 MPa, and "B" signifies that it needs to undergo a room-temperature impact test, ensuring certain toughness.
This steel grade boasts several notable characteristics. Firstly, it offers an excellent balance between cost and performance. Its relatively simple composition makes it affordable, while still providing sufficient strength and plasticity for a wide range of applications. Secondly, Q235B has good workability. Additionally, strict limits are placed on impurities such as phosphorus (≤ 0.045%) and sulfur (≤ 0.045%) to ensure good mechanical properties.
