S235JR Structural Steel Properties and Uses

S235JR is a European standard non-alloy structural steel under EN10025. The grade name indicates a yield strength of 235 MPa, while “JR” means the material meets impact toughness requirements at room temperature.

The chemical composition includes low carbon content (≤0.22%), manganese, silicon, and trace impurities. This delivers good ductility, excellent forming ability, and reliable weldability.

S235JR is usually supplied as hot-rolled steel, commonly in plates, coils, angles, channels, and H-beams.
